11 songs which Lonnie wrote to celebrate the styles which influenced him in the mid 50's. We're gonna Rock' will take you back to the dance halls and the lead track 'North West Mail' tells the story when Lonnie had to return to the family sheep property in 1957 and give up his Rockabilly band. It's getting great play and rave reviews.

Heralded as his best for many years, this 10song album features 8 of Lonnie's songs in the easy gentle 50's ballad style. Written by Lonnie, this is another romantic Doo Wop style ballad from the forthcoming Light of Love' album'. It follows the style set down by 'Can't you see it in my eyes' also from the same album. This CD like all the others is available here..
ST822 Track 2... 'IT TAKES ME BACK'
Also written by Lonnie, this country-rockabilly song gives a brief overview of Lonnie's life in the country and going to the city to become a star. It also has a controversial verse comparing life then and life now. If you like country, you'll get hooked on this. It will be on the 'North West Mail' album
ST821 ' BEST FRIENDS' - December 2005
This follow up to Lonnie's single 'Can't you see it in my eyes', is released late November to all stations across Australia. The song is a modern adult contemporary ballad written by Wayne Jackson of The Memphis Horns. If you'd like more information click here
The BONUS TRACK on this release is..
a country kicker...'Who made the rules'

Written by Aussie Blues singer Lil Fi, the song is typical of the new country rock songs. The arrangement Lonnie has done on it begs you to 'hang on' as it rocks through the air waves.

2006 is a very busy year for Lonnie and The Leemen

Lonnie is return to all capital cities and many provincial cities during 2006. The year started off with his season at the Tamworth Country Music Festival at the North Tamworth Bowling Club and was once again a very successful.

He has written 17 new songs for release in July on two albums. The first is the romantic Doo Wop CD, 'Light of Love' and the other is to celebrate his 50 Years on stage in May 1956-2006. The latter CD is country-rockabilly and features all songs written by Lonnie, it is called 'North West Mail'.


ST820 'Can't you see it in my eyes' released in May 2005
was Lonnie's first single release for 10 years

At the beginning of June, Starlite Records released Lonnie's first single release since 'Rain' a song he write for Roy Orbison.

The new song titled 'Can't you see it in my eyes', was written by John Marascalco who wrote 'Starlight Starbright' as well as classics such as Ready Teddy, Rip it Up, Good Golly Miss Molly etc.

It features some of Lonnie's old Nashville friends including Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns and Bob Babbitt of Motown's Funk Bros. Byrd Burton of the Amazing Rhythm Aces was on guitar as was Tony Burkys of The Leemen.

The beautiful ballad is in the popular Adult Contemporary - Country style and they are hopeful it will receive some serious play. There are free copies for radio and press and they can be ordered here once proof is obtained the requester is legit.

It has received an excellent reception by many stations across Australia and the general critique is sensational. excellent.

Lonnie and the band are performing it at live shows to great reactions by every audience.

Aussie legendary blues group 'CHAIN', write and dedicate a song to LONNIE

Recently Matt Taylor, the frontman of Australia's first and most popular legendary blues band 'Chain', penned a song as a tribute to Lonnie. The rest of the gang joined in to polish it off and record it for their next album.

The song is in Lonnie's rockabilly style and each chorus finishes with the line..
"There's no place I'd rather be, than Saturday night at the Trocadero (watching Lonnie Lee).

Now, 30 odd years after their first No1 ,Chain are still one of the hottest acts on the Blues Festival circuit across Australia and their self written CD's are always best sellers in the Blues area.

Lonnie asked to be Australia's Rockabilly Ambassador
The leading songwriters association in Australia is The Australian Songwriters Association and they have graciously asked Lonnie to be 'Australia's Rockabilly Ambassador'.

Lonnie of course has gratefully accepted and was given the honour of awarding the major songwriting award at the ASA Annual May meeting.

He was also one of the judges for the Blues/Rockabilly songwriting section and says the talent is of a very high standard.
